How To Pick Colors for Your Family Reunion Photos
Family reunions are so exciting. Not only do you get to reunite with the people you love who live far and wide, but you get to make memories with them too – photographic memories that you can keep in the family for decades to come.
Family reunion photos do require some planning though and choosing what colors to wear is one of the things you will need to decide on.
Here are a few important considerations:
Popular Colors
Because family photos are generally printed and displayed in a home, families tend to stick to blues, greens, whites, and any other neutral colors.
These colors are easy to frame and hang on most walls – they’re also not distracting and loud.
What’s more, these colors are much easier to source. In fact, many people already have them in their closets, which means outfits are easier to coordinate.
Your outfits don’t need to match either. As long as everyone is wearing similar colors, you get to have fun with shades and textures to add some interest.
Your Shoot Location
Next, you want to consider the location of your family reunion shoot. You want to choose colors that will stand out against the backdrops of your location. For example, if you’re shooting at a beach, blue works really well, as does any complementary colors such as green.
If you can though, stick to timeless colors. This way, you can keep displaying your family photos at home without them looking too outdated.
Reflections & Distractions
One thing you want to avoid is any colors and fabrics that would create a reflection. Neon shades and shiny fabrics can reflect back on your face, particularly under the eyes where the skin is thinner.
Then there are prints – checked patterns and pinstripes hardly ever look good in photos, so stay away from them. Logos and character shirts are also not recommended because they’re distracting and not timeless.
With these tips in mind, you won’t have a hard time choosing what to wear for your shoot. Now, all that’s left to do, is get everyone on board. If you found these tips helpful please like/comment/share!
